Cabins, Sleepouts and Tiny Home FAQs
We use and recommend screw pile or ground screw foundations which are installed by StopDigging. They are fast to install, flexibile when working with challenging terrains, and offer a more environmentally friendly footprint.
Lead times can vary, but generally are between the following:
4-6 weeks for sleepouts and cabins under 30m2 (without plumbing)
8-12 weeks for self-contained units with CCC.
Goodwood offers a range of customizable options for cabins; from choosing the flooring and interior finish, to rearranging the positions for doors, windows and electrical fittings, along with a selection of extras like hardwood or pine decking and stairs.
Yes, we offer a 5-year workmanship guarantee on all of our new build cabins, along with additional manufacturer warranties on most materials.
All Goodwood self-contained cabins are issued with a Code Compliance Certificate. This is a legally recognized document that verifies that the building work carried out is compliant with the NZ Building Code, also known as 'bearers up' building consent.
Small buildings under 30m2 without plumbing do not require building consent.
Absolutely. Goodwood cabins are fitted with floor, wall and ceiling insulation that meets H1 requirements, along with double glazed windows and doors for added protection. Not only warm in the winter, but the natural materials and good insulation mean it's cool in the summer, too.

Yes, all Goodwood sheds come with 90 x 45 H3.2 Timber framed and 19mm H3.2 plywood lined floors. These are included in the prices on our website.
All Goodwood Sheds are all the same height, with only the width and length changing between the different size options.
The highest external point of the shed is 2.4m high, along with the highest internal point being 2.2m, and the lowest internal point being 1.8m high.
There are many advantages of owning a Goodwood shed over a lower-priced tin shed or one of our competitors'.
1. Strength and durability: All Goodwood sheds are designed and built to withstand high wind-zones and will last the test of time in coastal areas.
2. Easy Assembly: The kitsets come in pre-cut panes, making assembly straightforward. The interlocking design ensures stability and fast assembly times. You don't need to be a tradie or handy person to put it together!
3. Natural Aesthetics: With a natural wood appearance that can be painted or oiled to suit your style, a Goodwood Shed will blend seamlessly into your outdoor environment.
In New Zealand, the general guideline is that a small structure, such as a shed, should be no closer to a boundary than its own height. For example, if your shed is 2.4m high, it must be built more than 2.4m from each legal boundary and from your house. However, these requirements can differ from council to council, so it’s always best to check with your local council to ensure compliance with specific rules in your area.
